Review of Commercial Road Transport qualification
National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Ground Spreading) [Ref: 1018]
The New Zealand Road Transport and Logistics Industry Training Organisation has reviewed the qualification listed above that was registered in June 2003.
Date new version published May 2005
An early review of the qualification was planned when the qualification was first developed, so that industry could assess whether the new qualification was fully meeting its needs. An Industry Advisory group comprising representatives of industry operators, candidates, training providers and assessors, and the Ground Spread Association itself reviewed the application of the qualification and its content, before circulating the draft widely within the industry for endorsement.
The opportunity was taken to update the qualification with changes to unit standards resulting from other reviews, and to incorporate the components of DriverSafe, an industry driven and ACC endorsed health and safety programme for drivers.
Main changes resulting from the review
The compulsory section has been extended with the inclusion of three additional unit standards, while unit standards, which are due to expire, have been deleted from the qualification. The requirements of the elective section have been reduced to maintain the overall credit requirement at 80 credits. The relationship diagram has been updated to remove unit standards no longer listed on the National Qualifications Framework.
· Unit standards 17602 and 16701 introduced to the compulsory section
· Unit standard 17574 transferred to the compulsory section from the elective section
