Review of Reo Māori qualification
National Certificate in Reo Māori (Level 4) [Ref: 0426]
NZQA Māori Qualifications Services has completed the review of the above qualification that was registered in February 1998.
Date new version published November 2005
The National Certificate in Reo Māori (Level 4) [Ref: 0428] has been reviewed as a consequence of the Reo Māori unit standards review. The unit standard review was completed in July 2005 as part of the Māori Qualifications Services review cycle in Field Māori.
Main changes resulting from the review
The Whakaruruhau Reo Māori made changes to the content and the credit values of the Reo Māori unit standards at Levels 1-8. As a result of that review, the National Certificate in Reo Māori (Level 4) was reviewed and amended to incorporate the new versions of the unit standards. The qualification now provides a more robust foundation for learners who wish to use this qualification as a pathway to the higher-level qualifications, with a stronger emphasis placed on the Kōrero and Whakarongo components of the qualification. The list of unit standards required remains the same, but the total credits for the qualification have increased from 76 to 120 credits.
Transition
People currently working towards version 2 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 3.
All new programmes from 2007 will lead to version 3 of the qualification.
It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this review, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition. However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:
