The Printing & Allied Industries Training Council (PAITC) has completed the review of the qualifications listed above that were registered in January 1998, August 1998, and April 2004.
Date new versions published October 2005
The review of these qualifications is planned to take place in 2010
The above qualifications were reviewed following an extensive review of industry requirements for the Corrugated Case sector, which included a full review of unit standards as well as the existing training programmes. The existing training programmes have not been widely used but it is expected that their usage will increase in the near future.
Paperboard case manufacturing companies had indicated from time to time that there were changes that needed to be made. A meeting was convened involving PAITC and industry representatives in August 2004 to review the Corrugated and Solid Board Converting and the Corrugated and Solid Board Manufacturing unit standards and qualifications.
The group was asked to consider the following:
· The continuing suitability of the existing qualifications and the development of any new qualifications that may be required.
· The accuracy and appropriateness of their content.
As a result of this review the existing domains of Corrugated and Solid Board Manufacturing and Corrugated and Solid Board Converting have been replaced with new domains of Fibreboard Manufacture and Corrugated Case Converting respectively.
