Review of Cleaning and Caretaking qualification
National Certificate in Cleaning and Caretaking (Level 2) [Ref: 0214]
The Building Service Contractors of New Zealand Incorporated has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in October 1996.
Date new version published September 2005
The review of this qualification is planned to take place in 2010
Reason for the review
During April 2005 BSCNZ consulted closely with people involved in the health care industry, which includes hospitals and aged residential care facilities. The consultation process revealed that the current qualification did not provide due recognition for the specific skills and knowledge required by cleaners (cleaning service workers) in the sector. To meet this need a new strand in Health Care Facilities was created which includes three unit standards relating to Health Sector Cleaning. It was decided to use these BSCNZ unit standards to facilitate uptake of the qualification by industry and trainees. The sector endorses the new qualification.
