Review ofMeat Processing qualification
National Certificate in Meat Processing (Wool Estimation) [Ref: 0696]
The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation - Meat Processing Advisory Group has completed the review of the above qualification that was registered in July 2003.
Date new version published September 2005
This qualification has been reviewed and issued as version 4 following consultation with the Meat Processing Advisory Group, which includes representatives of assessors and providers within the meat processing industry. The qualification has been updated to provide the core knowledge and skills that underpin all the functions within the industry and is largely replicated in the meat processing industry's qualifications.
Main changes resulting from the review
Changes to structure and content
· the purpose statement has been updated
· unit standards 7123, 4248, 4249, 12382, and 9677 have been added
· unit standards 2506 and 18766 have been removed
· the credit total has increased from 150 to 157.
Transition
This qualification contains a unit standard that replaces an earlier unit standard. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring unit standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement unit standard.

Candidates currently working towards version 3 of this qualification may complete that version or transfer their results to version 4.
Final date for the award of version 3 is December 2008.
It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by this review, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition. However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the standard setting body, at the address below.
