Summary of review and consultation process

A consortium of Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) has agreed to adopt the Competitive Manufacturing Training Package MCM 04 that is registered on the Australian Qualifications Framework and register it on to the New Zealand National Qualifications Framework.  The consortium comprises:

·        FITEC

·        New Zealand Industry Training Organisation (NZITO)

·        Competenz

·        Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO)

·        Furniture Industry Training Organisation (FITO)

·        Plastics and Materials Processing Industry Training Organisation (PaMPITO)

·        Printing and Allied Industries Council (PAITC)

·        Seafood Industry Council (SeaFIC)

·        Apparel and Textile Industry Training Organisation (ATITO)

As part of this project, FITEC has identified overlap with some of the existing Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) unit standards.  In addition, the consortium has agreed that reviewed standards in the TPM domain should be moved to the Competitive Manufacturing domain.

The review highlights the unit standards that have been replaced by the registration of the Australian based standards.

Main changes resulting from the review

The review has resulted in the following changes:

·        Unit standards 18938 and 19718 have been replaced by 21508.

·        Unit standards 18933, 18934, and 18936, have been designated as expiring.

·        Unit standard 18935 has been reviewed to align with the new standards.

·        Unit standard 18935 has been transferred from AMAP 0181 to AMAP 0188.

Unit standards categorised as category C or D expire at the end of December 2006.
