Competenz has completed the review of the unit standard listed above that was registered in April 2001.

Date report published                        September 2005

Summary of review and consultation process

Competenz is in the process of reviewing a number of qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.  After wide consultation, new qualification structures have been endorsed by the industry, and these require that unit standard 2670 be replaced with a standard that better meets modern welding requirements.

Main changes resulting from the review

Unit standard 2670 is replaced by Unit 21907, Demonstrate and apply knowledge of safe welding procedures under supervision.  A number of new unit standards have also been developed for use in entry level training in mechanical engineering and related trades.

Unit standard 2670 will expire at the end of December 2009.
