Summary of review and consultation process
Two Civil Defence unit standards were reviewed and approved by the LGITO Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Advisory Group. The major reason for the review was to update the standards following the repeal of the Civil Defence Act 1983, which was replaced with the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002. These legislative changes created new industry terminology and requirements. The unit standard content was amended to reflect these changes. The new industry terminology has also been reflected in a title change to one of the two reviewed unit standards.
The LGITO Civil Defence Emergency Management Advisory Group met to review the unit standards. The Civil Defence Emergency Management Advisory Group is made up of representatives from local, regional, rural and urban CDEM organisations, and a private training establishment working in the industry. Comment on the reviewed unit standards was sought from the industry.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 7324 title changed to reflect industry terminology.
· Special Note references to legislation updated in both unit standards.
· Range statements and special notes have been amended to reflect the changed content.
· Adjustments made to improve and clarify elements and performance criteria.

The following Local Government Industry Training Organisation qualification is not materially affected by the changes. It will be updated when it is next reviewed or revised.
