Summary of review and consultation process
These unit standards have been reviewed as a result of changes to the Building Act 2004 and the need to change the intent to reflect the new requirements for Building Officials under the Act. The changes to the Act have resulted in some unit standards being merged and two unit standards have been designated as expiring. Three new unit standards have been created to address further skill requirements. The reviewed unit standards will be included in new qualifications currently being designed for Building Officials.
The review has been endorsed by the industry advisory group responsible for developing the new qualifications. The advisory group is made up of representatives from Territorial Authorities, the Department of Building and Housing and the Building Officials Institute of New Zealand.
