Review of Passenger Servicequalification
National Certificate in Passenger Service (Small Passenger Vehicle) (Level 2) with an optional strand in Taxi Driving [Ref: 0180]
The NZ Road Transport and Logistics Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in May 2005.
Date new version published April 2006
This review, initiated by the NZ Road Transport and Logistics Industry Training Organisation late in 2005, was in response to candidate and provider feedback concerning the qualification' s elective section. The elective section offered a restricted choice of standards; not allowing scope for people to expand or develop their skill base sufficiently. The opportunity was taken to review the rest of the content to ensure the qualification was still meeting industry requirements.
The ITO established an Industry Advisory Group, consisting of training providers, assessors and Industry representatives – including the NZ Taxi Federation, Taxi Training institutions and the Bus and Coach Association. The group was asked to analyse and provide feedback to the ITO on the qualification's elective section and overall content. This feedback directed the changes made.
Main changes resulting from the review
Changes to structure and content
· Removal of 'Level 2' from the title of the qualification
· Standards 1277, 1304, 5234, 15950, and 20472 added to the elective set
· Standard 17592 moved from the compulsory set to the elective set
· Standard 18078 moved from the compulsory set to the optional strand
· Standards 18113 and 1734 added to the compulsory set
· Standard 18112 added to the optional strand
· Standard 16605 removed from the qualification
· As a result, qualification credits increased from 48 to 52 and qualification with strand credits increased from 56 to 67.
