Summary of review and consultation process
1 An Industry Advisory Group was established in February 2005 comprising representatives from:
· Four Proprietary Systems Suppliers - the industry regulators.
· National Fabrications Group - the main users of the standards.
· Assessors.
· The Window Association of New Zealand (Inc.) PTE.
2 All employers of trainees enrolled in the National Certificates in Architectural Aluminium Joinery Levels 2 and 3 [Ref: 0765 and 0766] were notified in April 2005 of the review and invited to comment (a total of 90 companies nationwide).
3 Joinery Industry Training Organisation and Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation were notified of the review in April 2005 and invited to comment.
4 Members of Competenz Architectural Aluminium Joinery Sector Advisory Group and Window Association of New Zealand (Inc.) PTE Executive were included at all stages.
5 The Industry Advisory Group considered the comments from the consultation process and endorsed changes at two meetings held on 26 July and 4 November, 2005.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Credit totals for standards 550, 554, and 556 have increased;
· Level for standard 554 has increased and level for standard 555 has decreased;
· Amendments to special notes for all unit standards to update legislation;
· The elements and performance criteria have been updated to comply with changes in industry practice;
· Four new unit standards have been created.
Unit standard 553 categorised as category D expires at the end of December 2007.
