National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref: 0819]
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published August 2006
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2011.
Summary of review and consultation process
The review was carried out because qualifications had reached their planned review date, and feedback from industry had indicated that changes were required to the structure and content of qualifications to reflect current training requirements.
Main changes resulting from the review
The National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 3) [Ref: 0818] was originally intended for candidates at operator level. All the unit standards in the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 3) [Ref: 0818] were also included in the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref: 0819], which was intended for candidates at a supervisor level.
Industry feedback indicated that this qualification pathway no longer reflected industry requirements for operators, as the essential skills and knowledge required by an operator in the seed dressing industry were covered in the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref: 0819].
Feedback indicated that supervisors required a range of skills and knowledge specific to business management rather than the set of industry skills covered in the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref: 0819]. On completion of this qualification people can progress to other qualifications in agribusiness management such as the National Certificate in Agribusiness Management (Agribusiness Resource Management) [Ref: 1187]; National Certificate in Agribusiness Management (Business Planning and Financial Management) [Ref: 1186]; National Diploma in Agribusiness Management [Ref: 0647]; or qualifications in business and first line management such as the National Certificate in Business (Level 4) (Introductory) or (Intermediate) [Ref: 0782]; National Certificate in Business Administration (Level 4) [Ref: 0634]; National Certificate in First Line Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0649]; or National Certificate in Small Business Management [Ref: 0172].
National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 3) [Ref: 0818]
This qualification has been merged with the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref: 0819]. The National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref: 0819] had a number of unit standards in common with the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 3) [Ref: 0818].
Summary of differences between the qualifications
· All unit standards are now compulsory.
· Unit standards 497, 5059, 8489, 8490, 8491 and 9707 have been removed from the compulsory set.
· Unit standards 15601, 15064 and 15607 have been moved from elective B to compulsory set.
· Unit standards 15602 and 21554 have been added.
· Unit standards 5060, 5064 and16663, and elective A and B have been deleted, as they are no longer required by industry.
· Unit standard 22782 has been added, as it is a new industry specific theory requirement relating to endophytes and the cropping process.
· Unit standard 21562 has been added, as it is a new theory requirement relating to agrichemicals.
· Unit standard 21554 has replaced unit standard 5059.
Transition
It is strongly recommended that people currently working towards this qualification transfer their results to the National Certificate in Seed Dressing (Level 4) [Ref:0819] as soon as possible. The last date to complete the replaced qualification is 31 December 2007. The last date for award of the replaced qualification is 31 December 2008.

Changes to structure and content
· Total credits have reduced from 118 to 106.
· All unit standards in the qualification are now compulsory.
· Unit standard 22782 has been added, as it is a new industry specific theory requirement relating to endophytes and the cropping process.
· Unit standard 21562 has been added, as it is a new theory requirement relating to agrichemicals.
· Unit standard 5059 has been replaced by unit standard 21554.
· Unit standards 497, 8489, 8490, 8491, 9707, and Electives A and B, have been deleted as they are no longer required by industry.
Transition
It is strongly recommended that people currently working towards version 1 of the qualification transfer their results to the current version as soon as possible. Both versions are recognised by the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation. The last date to complete version 1 is 31 December 2008. The last date for award of version 1 is 31 December 2009. People who transfer to version 2 will need to meet the additional requirements of unit standards 22782 and 21562.
