Summary of review and consultation process

At the request of the Community Recreation industry, Sfrito has carried out a thorough and complete review of this qualification.

The Park Ranger Advisory Group has met frequently since 2002 to develop a qualification, and training network that is supportive of a new qualification, which will provide greater flexibility and reflect the wide range of skills required by that industry.  It became apparent that the community arts strand of the existing qualification was quite incongruous with the parks strands, and therefore a single replacement qualification would be unsuitable.

Consequently, a new qualification, the National Certificate in Parks and Recreation (Level 3) with strands in Local Authority Park Ranger, and Parks Contractor [Ref: 1268], has been developed to recognise the essential skills required to work as either a local authority park ranger or parks contractor.  The community arts strand of the reviewed qualification will form part of the National Certificate in Community Recreation (Community Art Work) (Level 4) [Ref: 0450], which is currently under review.

At the request of the Community Recreation industry Sfrito has carried out a thorough and complete review of this qualification.  This has resulted in the existing qualification being replaced with a new National Certificate in Parks and Recreation with strands in Local Authority Park Ranger and Parks Contractor [Ref: xxxx] and the introduction of new industry awards.

The Countryside Parks and the Urban Parks strands have been re-designed by the Park Ranger Advisory Group to provide greater flexibility and reflect the wide range of skills required by that industry.  This Advisory Group has met frequently since 2002 to develop a qualification and training network that supports this qualification.Main changes resulting from the review
