Revision of Sports Turf qualifications
National Certificate in Amenity Turf Maintenance (Level 3) [Ref: 1078]
National Certificate in Sports Turf Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0203]
The NZ Sports Turf Industry Training Organisation (NZSTITO) has revised the qualifications listed above that were registered in January 2004 and November 2003.
Date new versions published January 2006
The review of these qualifications is planned to take place in 2007
Reason for the revision
The qualifications were revised to take account of the substantial review of agrichemical-related unit standards (May 2005) the review of nursery production unit standards (February 2004), traffic control unit standards (October 2004), and amenity horticulture unit standards (July 2005).
Main changes resulting from the revision
National Certificate in Amenity Turf Maintenance (Level 3) [Ref: 1078]
The main changes to the qualification are
· Replacement unit standards have been selected and unit standards designated expiring as a result of the review have been removed. Unit standards have been substituted as follows
o 814 replaced by 20556
o 823 replaced by 21560 and 21563
o 1666 replaced by 21027
o 5059 replaced by 21554
o 5060 and 5064 replaced by 21564
o 5066 replaced by 21558
· Additional temporary traffic management electives added
· Elective 1 restructured for programming reasons (no change to requirements)
· The NZSCED reference was corrected
· The planned review date was changed from 2006 to 2007.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 2.
Candidates for this qualification may claim exemptions on the basis of existing credit as set out in the table below.

All new programmes from January 2007 will lead to version 2 of the qualification.

The main changes to the qualification are

o 823 replaced by 21560 and 21563
o 5059 replaced by 21554
o 5060 and 5064 replaced by 21564
· Unit standard 21558 has been added to the compulsory component of the qualification
· Unit standards 5062 and 14376 have been removed with no direct replacements
· The qualification will no longer result in eligibility for award of the associated Applied GROWSAFE certificate
· The elective component has been increased from 10 credits to 12 credits to maintain credit total for the qualification at 230
· The NZSCED reference was corrected
· Special note on recommended unit standards added.

It is the intention of the NZSTITO that no existing candidate is disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. Any person who considers they have been disadvantaged is requested to contact the NZSTITO.
