Revision of Commercial Road Transport qualification
National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Courier Driver) with strands in Urgent Operations, and Non-urgent Operations [Ref: 1084]
The NZ Road Transport and Logistics Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above that was registered in March 2004.
Date new version published January 2006
The review of this qualification is planned to take place in 2008
Reason for the revision
The qualification was revised to remove a barrier to its usage, the requirement for Unit 20078, Describe taxation, financial, and insurance responsibilities for small business owner operators. The inclusion of this unit standard in the core compulsory section had presented a barrier to couriers who were employees, as opposed to owner/operators.
The NZ Road Transport and Logistics Industry Training Organisation has taken the opportunity to strengthen the requirement for courier drivers to better understand and manage their stress, health and fatigue by including Unit 1734, Demonstrate knowledge of stress, health and fatigue for driving in the core compulsory section, and to update titles and credits of unit standards in the Commercial Road Transport Skills and Core Driving Knowledge and Skills domains.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Unit standard 20078 has been moved from the core compulsory section to the core elective section
· Unit standard 1734 has been moved from the core elective section to the core compulsory section
· Titles and/or credits of unit standards 1734, 1739, 3462, 3464, 3468, and 17676 have been updated.
