The National Qualifications Services of NZQA has revised the unit standard listed above, which was registered in December 2002.

Reason for the revision

 

The revision was carried out to remove the ambiguity from the interpretation of this unit standard, particularly in regard to the application of Special Note 3.  As it stood, knowledge of the indigenous Māori culture could be interpreted as a theoretical exercise for element one and not necessarily applied in element two.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

·        Special note 4 has been added to clarify that this unit standard is to be delivered and assessed in New Zealand’s cultural environment.

·        A definition of New Zealand’s cultural environment has been added to special note 1.

·        Element one has been modified to clarify that this is undertaken in a New Zealand cultural environment.
