Summary of review and consultation process
NZHITO, in conjunction with the plant and garden retail advisory group, providers, and other stakeholders, has reviewed the Plant and Garden Retail unit standards.
In the course of the review, consideration was given to the following.
· The currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and proposed qualifications.
· The accuracy and appropriateness of the unit standards’ content to the industry.
· The appropriateness of the Plant and Garden Retail domain name.
Comments and recommendations from all parties were also considered through the process of review and consultation, and incorporated as appropriate.
Main changes resulting from the review
The review process has resulted in the following changes.
· Registration of a Garden Retail domain, and designation lapsing of the Plant and Garden Retail domain.
· Reclassification of unit standards 3146-3149 in the Garden Retail domain.
· Addition of an element to unit standard 3147 and to unit standard 3149.
· Updating of special notes to include relevant legislation and Standards.
· Addition of evidence requirements, via performance criteria and range statements, to ensure the standards are technically correct and up to date with industry needs.
· Adjustment of credit allocations to accurately reflect the time required for delivery, learning and assessment.
· Development of unit standards 22161-22164 in the Garden Retail domain.

AMAP 0032 has been updated to reflect the reclassification of unit standards 3146-3149 and the removal of the note about the mismatch between the accreditation option on the AMAP and on the unit standard documents.
