Revision of Early Childhood Education and Care and Teaching qualifications
National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) [Ref: 0430]
National Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education, Pasifika) (Level 7) [Ref: 0983]
The NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) has revised the qualifications listed above that were registered in April 1999 and December 2002.
Date new versions published July 2006
The review of these qualifications is planned to take place in 2007 and 2008.
Reason for the revision
The qualifications listed above have been updated to take account of the following:
· Review of standard 7304 and transfer of its replacement standard 21327 into the Early Childhood Education and Care subfield in the Early Childhood: Educational Theory and Practice domain.
Main changes resulting from the revision
The maintenance process has resulted in the following changes to the qualifications.
National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 5) [Ref: 0430]
· Standard 7304 has been removed and replaced by standard 21327.
Transition
There are no transition consequences resulting from this change. People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of earlier versions of this qualification may either complete those versions or transfer to version 4. Providers are encouraged to offer programmes leading to award of version 4 from 2007.
For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standard.

· Standard 7304 has been removed and replaced by standard 21327 in Elective Two.

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of the earlier version of this qualification may either complete that version or transfer to version 2. Providers are encouraged to offer programmes leading to award of version 2 from2007.
