Revision of NZQA Māori Qualifications Services – Whakaruruhau Reo Māori AMAP 0106
NZQA’s Māori Qualifications Services has revised the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) above.
Date new version published June 2006
The next AMAP review is planned to take place during 2008.
Reason for the revision
The SSB has revised the AMAP to include sector-specific requirements (as on AMAP 0166 version 6) where there were none previously.
Compliance with new requirements
Accreditation requirements will apply with effect from January 2007.
Accredited organisations will be audited for compliance with AMAP requirements from January 2007 onwards.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Version 4 replaced by version 5 and ‘Whakaruruhau Reo Māori’ added to AMAP title.
ACCREDITATION INFORMATION (AI)
Industry or sector-specific requirements for accreditation
· Criterion 1 added that requires applicant and accredited organisations to have policies and procedures that will support Māori pedagogy and cultural authenticity, and ensure that the Māori community are included in the development and evaluation of the organisation’s teaching programmes.
· Criterion 3 added that requires applicant and accredited organisations to have policies and procedures that will ensure a staff selection process that recognises culturally appropriate protocols, and that will ensure tutors have a working knowledge of reo Māori and tikanga.
· Criterion 5 added that requires applicant and accredited organisations to have policies and procedures that will ensure support for students in both of the national languages.
· Criterion 7 added that requires applicant and accredited organisations to have policies and procedures that will ensure a range of culturally appropriate assessment methods.
