The New Zealand Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the unit standards listed above that were registered in January 2002.

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The unit standard review meeting convened in Christchurch in February 2005, attended by representatives of the Meat Advisory Group, independent trainers, and assessors, identified that the beef unit standards referring to Aus-Meat National Accreditation Standards be updated to complement the new ovine unit standards recently registered.  The panel determined that due to the increase in companies receiving Aus-Meat training, it was pertinent to review these unit standards, prior to incorporation into a new qualification to meet industry needs.  The reviewed unit standards were promulgated through the wider industry network and Aus-Meat for final feedback.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

·        Changes have been made to purpose statements, special notes, including additions of ranges and definitions.

·        Element and performance statements have been re-drafted for clarity of understanding.

·        Increase in credit for unit standard 19178 from 2 to 4.
