The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in February 2000.
Date new version published June 2006
This qualification was reviewed as part of the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation regular review cycle. Industry representatives wished to provide a progression of qualifications in Floor and Wall Tiling and thus developed the National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tiling (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) [Ref: 1182] as a lead-in to the trade. The National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tiling (Level 4) [Ref: 0726] has been reviewed to reflect that holders of this qualification are able to successfully complete all facets of work involved in floor and wall tiling in the workplace, to a professional standard and unsupervised. The Level 2 qualification is now a prerequisite for this qualification.
Main changes resulting from the review
· The National Certificate in Floor and Wall Tilling (Introductory Skills) (Level 2) [Ref: 1182] is now a prerequisite for this qualification, to reflect progression of learning between the two qualifications.

· Unit standards 6112, 6113, 6115, and 6116 have been replaced by new unit standards 22023, 22024, 22028, and 22030 respectively.
· Unit standard 6114 has been replaced by two new unit standards, 22026 and 22027, as grouts and adhesives have become a larger area of learning due to technological advances.
· Two new unit standards, 22025 Determine quantities of materials required for floor and wall tiling and 22029 Install a manufactured waterproofing system for tiling to interior wet areas on site, have been added to the qualification.
· Total credits for the qualification have decreased from 233 to 104 due to the much lower credit values of the replacement unit standards in the Floor and Wall Tiling domain.
