The unit standard referred to above was registered in September 2004 following the review by the Hospitality Standards Institute of Food Safety unit standards. In the review report published at that time, the ITO overlooked that some organisations were accredited only for unit standard 167, Practise food safety methods in a food business (Level 2; Credits 4).
Unit standard 20666, Demonstrate a basic knowledge of contamination hazards and control methods used in a food business (Level 2; Credits 2) was developed as a companion unit standard for 167, and it was the ITO's intention that all organisations accredited for 167 should also be accredited for 20666.
The ITO considers that all organisations accredited for 167 should have the scope of their accreditation extended to include the domain Food Safety to Level 2. This will provide some security against future changes.
