Summary of review and consultation process
MQS and the Whenua Māori Whakaruruhau looked at the standards as part of the normal review cycle, and as a result of the decision to lapse the Ngā Whenua Māori, Trustee Roles and Responsibilities domain. They focused on the low usage of the standards and the identified overlap with standards in the Governance of Māori Authorities domain, to ascertain whether the standards should remain on the National Qualifications Framework, or whether the desired outcomes were already better represented.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standards 18092-18095 were deemed no longer necessary, due to low usage and overlap with other registered standards. They have been designated as expiring and will not be replaced.
· Unit standard 18096 has had changes made to elements, level, and credits to better represent what is required of candidates in terms of the nature of the decision-making required. Levels and credits have been reduced from 5 and 10 to 4 and 3 respectively. It has also been moved into the Governance of Māori Authorities domain.
Unit standards categorised as category D expire at the end of December 2007.
