The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the unit standards listed above that were registered in August 2000.

Date new versions published                        May 2006

Planned review date                        December 2011

Summary of review and consultation process

These unit standards were reviewed as part of Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation's scheduled review process for the National Certificate in Specialist Interiors (Proprietary Partitions Installation) with an optional strand in Access Floors Installation [Ref: 0276] and the National Certificate in Specialist Interiors (Suspended Ceilings Installation) with an optional strand in Access Floors Installation [Ref: 0277].  An industry working party (IWP) consisting of representatives from the Specialist Interiors industry was gathered, and the unit standards reviewed by this party.  The resulting recommendations were incorporated into the unit standards, which were then returned to the IWP for feedback.  The results of this feedback were duly incorporated into the final unit standards.  The qualifications of which these unit standards are a part are currently being reviewed.

Main changes resulting from the review

·          A new unit standard, 22217, replaced unit standards 4345 and 6123, combining their content.

·          A new unit standard, 22218, replaced unit standards 4337 and 6125, combining their content.

·          Unit standards 4342, 4346, and 6155 have had a theory element added to them, with resulting alterations to title and purpose statement and an increase in credits.

·          Unit standard 4341 has had a credit increase to accurately reflect the time spent learning and assessing the skills involved.

·          Unit standards 4338, 4339, 4341, 4342, 4346, 6122, 6124, and 6155 have had changes to their titles.

·          Unit standards 4339, 4347, and 6124, which previously had prerequisite unit standards, now have 'recommended' in the entry information, as they denote a progression in skill.  In addition, the recommended unit standard for 4339 has been changed from 4338 Install suspended ceilings under supervision to 6155 Install suspended ceilings on site.

·          Unit standard 4336 has had seismic requirements added to the range statement of performance criteria 1.2, and relevant reference to AS/NZS 2785:2000 added to the special notes, in accordance with legislative requirements.

·          Definitions in the special notes of all unit standards have been updated.

·          Some elements, performance criteria, and range statements have been changed to reflect the level of the unit standard, to improve assessibility and for consistency of style within the batch, and purpose statements have also been updated as necessary.

·          References to exemptions have been removed from special notes to reflect changes in the structure of the qualifications of which the unit standards are a part.

Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2007.
