Revision of Biosecurityqualification

 

National Certificate in Biosecurity (Border Quarantine) with strands in International Cargo Clearance, International Vessel Clearance, International Aircraft Clearance, and International Mail Clearance [Ref: 0952]

 

Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) has revised the above qualification.

 

Date new version published                        May 2006

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2007.

 

Reason for the revision

 

Following industry feedback, this qualification has been revised to ensure that it better meets the needs of industry pending a full review in 2007.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

The qualification is delivered as a set course that all employees in border quarantine take. As such the elective section has been used primarily as a means of recognition of prior learning and is an impediment to completion. It was also decided that the time management unit was not applicable to all employees.

 

Changes to structure and content

·      Unit standard 12349 has been removed from the compulsory core section.

·      The core elective has been removed.

·      The credit total has reduced from 150-165 to 120-135.

·      Qualification issued as version 2.

 

Transition

 

People currently working towards version 1 of the qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 2 of the qualification.
