Review of Equine qualification

 

National Certificate in Equine (RDA Coach) [Ref: 0715]

 

The Equine ITO has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in January 2000.

Following a recent review of the five specialist Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) unit standards the RDA, in consultation with the NZ Equine Industry Training Organisation, reviewed the National Certificate in Equine (RDA Coach) [Ref: 0715] to ensure that it aligned with their current needs and direction.  The New Zealand Riding for the Disabled National Training Team met in July and August 2004 and agreed to make adjustments to the qualification to ensure it continued to meet the Association's requirements.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

Changes to structure and content

·      Where necessary levels and credits of unit standards, reviewed since version 1 was registered, have been updated.

·      Level of qualification increased from 4 to 5.

·      Level added to the qualification title to align it with other equine qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework.

National Certificate in Equine (RDA Coach) (Level 5)

·      Expiring unit standard 1657 has been removed.

·      Unit standards 1618, 19459, and 19945 have been added.

·      Total credits have increased from 110 to 149.

 

Transition

 

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification may either complete that version, or transfer to version 2.  The last date for entry to training programmes or courses leading to the award of version 1 is 31 December 2006.  The last date for the award of version 1 is 31 December 2011.

 

Candidates for this qualification may claim exemption on the basis of existing credit as set out in the table below.
