Review of Aeronautical Storekeeping qualification
National Certificate in Aeronautical Storekeeping [Ref: 0618]
The Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualification listed above that was registered in May 1999.
The Level 3 National Certificate in Aeronautical Storekeeping was reviewed to improve flexibility of the structure and to take account of changes in industry requirements.
An Advisory Group consisting of industry users, providers, and assessors met in early 2004, as part of the Aeronautical Engineering review, in order to review the contents of the unit standards and qualification. Following changes to the Aeronautical Storekeeping unit standards, a new version of the qualification was drafted and circulated to wider industry for feedback. The Advisory Group considered comments and endorsed version 2 of the qualification in March 2006 after evaluating feedback from the wider industry.
Main changes resulting from the review
Changes to structure and content
· Standards 10851 and 11983 have been moved from the compulsory section to the elective section
· Compulsory standard 2824 has been replaced by standards 21911 and 21912
· Elective standard 12006 has been removed from the qualification
· Standards 13249 and 19582 have been added to the elective section
· Compulsory credit value has reduced from 70 to 62 credits, and elective credit value has increased from 20 to 28 credits.
Transition
People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification may either complete that version or transfer their results to version 2.
People who have gained credit for expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the following standards.
