Summary of review and consultation process

This review was part of the planned cycle of review for achievement standards and was informed by feedback from secondary schools, advisers, moderators, and examiners.

Main changes resulting from the review

AS90201 (Economics 1.7)

The second merit criterion has been reworded slightly to clarify requirements.  An additional explanatory note (EN) 7 has been added to clearly spell out the referencing requirements for this achievement standard.

AS90758-90762 (Economics 2.1, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.7)

All the above achievement standards have been designated D category.  Four new achievement standards have been written that are aligned with the structure of the Level 1 and Level 3 achievement standards in Economics.  These new achievement standards are topic based as opposed to skill based.  This change had strong support from the secondary sector.

AS90238 (Economics 2.3)

This achievement standard has been replaced by the new achievement standard AS90798.

AS90629 (Economics 3.1)

The second and third excellence criteria have been amended.  'And' has been replaced with 'or'.  This will make excellence a more realistic target for able students.  The third achievement criterion has also been amended.  'And' has been replaced with 'or'.

AS90778 (Economics 3.5)

Part of the original EN 4, relating to referencing requirements, has been moved into a new EN 10.  This emphasises this requirement within the achievement standard.

Externally assessed achievement standards, 90238, 90758, 90759, 90761, & 90762 categorised as category C or D expire at the end of December 2006.

Internally assessed achievement standard 90760 categorised as category D expires at the end of December 2007.
