Summary of review and consultation process

These unit standards were reviewed to incorporate changes overlooked in the previous review (April 2006). The post-assessment moderation process identified some issues of consistency and difficulty of assessment for standards within the National Certificate in Specialist Interiors (Proprietary Partitions Installation) with an optional strand in Access Floors Installation [Ref: 0276] and the National Certificate in Specialist Interiors (Suspended Ceilings Installation) with an optional strand in Access Floors Installation [Ref: 0277]. The BCITO moderation team identified quality issues and made recommendations for improvement. These recommendations were then discussed and approved by a working party consisting of direct representatives from the Specialist Interiors industry.

Main changes resulting from the review

· Titles of all unit standards have changed to more accurately reflect the outcomes of the unit standards.

· Unit standards 4343, 4347, and 6124 have had a 'Demonstrate knowledge of' element added for consistency with the rest of the domain.

· Purpose statements have been altered to match the elements and performance criteria.

· Special notes have had definitions added for clarity, and the 'industry practice' special note has been reworded in unit standards 4343 and 4347 and added to unit standards 4342, 4346, 6124, 6155, 22217, and 22218.

· Performance criteria and range statements have been amended to clarify assessment requirements.

· The final 'clean up' element has been removed from unit standards 4342, 4343, 4346, 4347, 6124, and 6155, as it was considered to be superfluous. Performance criteria have been reworded to include cleaning up as part of each task.
