Revision of Fire and Rescue Services unit standards

The Fire and Rescue Services Industry Training Organisation has revised the unit standards listed above.

Reason for the revision

 

Unit standard 3321 has been revised as a result of feedback that fair assessment may be precluded, as the wording of the unit standard does not measure skill in the order that matches real actions.  A number of industry representatives were consulted to gain an overall view of the proposed changes and to ascertain that they would meet assessment requirements.

 

The remaining unit standards have been updated to reflect changes to legislation and references required by the special notes.  It is important that trainees are aware of such changes to ensure they have access to the most current requirements and approaches and that assessment retains currency.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

 

The changes to the unit standards are as follows:

·          Unit standards 3321 and 14564 were changed so that performance criteria more accurately reflected assessment requirements.

·          References in special notes were updated.

·          References to legislation were updated.

·          Titles were changed to correctly reflect proper names.
