Summary of review and consultation process

There is a continued demand for theunit standards in the Blaster Coating subfield and feedback from industry and workplace assessors indicated the need for a review of these unit standards.  On this basis, selected panels of industry experts were consulted to review the unit standards.  The reviewers analysed each unit standard in turn for currency of industry practice, clarity of expression, assessability of content, updating references, levels and credit value, and fitness for purpose.

·        The credit value of 17531 has increased from 5 to 6.

·        The credit values of 17545, and 17546 have decreased from 15 to 6 and 15 to 4 respectively.

·        Unit standards 17522, 17526, 17527, 17545, and 17546 have been reclassified as indicated in the 'Summary of main changes' table.

·        Special notes have been updated to include changes in requirements, legislation, codes of practice, standards, and guidelines.

·        Technical terminology has been updated in the elements and performance criteria.
