Summary of review and consultation process
These unit standards were reviewed as they had not undergone a review since their registration.
A group of industry representatives and members of the PrintNZ Training met to discuss the changes required to the unit standards as well as to all other aspects of the Formed Shapes (Letterpress/Dry Offset) training programmes.
It was agreed that the domain of Formed Shapes (Letterpress/Dry Offset) be designated expiring and the unit standards moved to a new domain, Dry Offset, a name that clearly defines the sector without the requirement to include references to Formed Shapes and Letterpress.
The group was asked to consider the following:
· The currency of the unit standards and their suitability for the qualifications.
· The accuracy and appropriateness of their content.
· Whether levels and credits corresponded to performance outcomes.
· Any gaps in skills and/or knowledge that could be captured by the development of new unit standards.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standards in the Formed Shapes (Letterpress/Dry Offset) domain have been reclassified in a new Dry Offset domain.
· Titles of all unit standards have changed to reflect the new domain name, and in addition, the titles of unit standards 12373-12378 have changed to reflect skills covered.
· Unit standard 12371 has been replaced by new unit standard 23408.
· Changes have been made to the entry requirements for most unit standards.
· Elements, performance criteria and range statements have been changed in all unit standards to improve assessability, and for consistency of style within the domain.
Unit standard 12371, categorised as category C, expires at the end of December 2010.
Impact on Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP)
AMAP 0005 has been updated to reflect the changes made to the standards.
