Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) has revised the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                        September 2006

Planned review date                        December 2011

Reason for the revision

This revision was necessary because of changes to the processes and procedures of the biosecurity inspection of aircraft arriving from outside the territorial airspace of New Zealand.  The three unit standards cover the inspection and biosecurity requirements of (respectively): the aircraft itself; the passengers and crew; and the working environment of international airports.

·      Unit standard 16827 decreased from level 6 to level 5

·      Prerequisite requirements changed for unit standard 16828

·      Removal of reference to the International Plant Protection Convention in special notes of unit standards 16827 and 16828

·      Reference to MAF Biosecurity Authority changed to Biosecurity New Zealand

·      Changes to the procedures for aircraft inspection

·      Changes to procedures relating to non-compliance

·      Addition of 'airport operators' to aviation organisations
