The New Zealand Horticulture Industry Training Organisation (NZHITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above that were registered in 1997.

Date new versions published                        September 2006

Planned review date                        December 2011

Summary of review and consultation process

NZHITO, in conjunction with providers and other stakeholders, have reviewed the Landscape domain unit standards listed above.  The review considered the currency of the unit standards and their suitability for existing and proposed qualifications; the accuracy and appropriateness of their content to the landscape industry; the need for updating of special notes to include relevant legislation and licensing requirements; revising elements, performance criteria and range statements to ensure they were technically correct and up to date; and reassessing credit values to more accurately reflect the time taken for learning and assessment.

Main changes resulting from the review

The review process has resulted in the following changes to the unit standards:

·      The review and replacement of unit standards 991, 996, 998, 1000-1005, 1008-1010, 1012-1014, 1017, 1021-1024, 1027, 1028, 12400, 12479-12482, 12484, 12486, 12488, and 12491-12496.

·      Designation as expiring of the following unit standards due to their content being covered in other unit standards.

-         993, Apply soil testing, cultivation and conditioning techniques

-         995, Use fertilisers in landscape work

-         999, Prepare and present a landscape proposal

-         1029, Investigate a specialised landscape project
