Revision of Maritime qualification
National Certificate in Maritime (Commercial Coastal Watchkeeping) [Ref: 0522]
Competenz has completed the revision of of the above qualification, which was registered in August 1998.
Date new versions published September 2006
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2008.
Reason for the revision
The main reason for the revision was to update reviewed unit standards and to replace expiring unit standards. The opportunity was also taken to include Unit 6401, Provide first aid.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· titles, levels, and credits of reviewed unit standards updated
· unit standards 4102 and 4105 have been replaced by unit standard 19493
· unit standard 8125 has been replaced by unit standard 19628
· unit standard 6401 added
· credit total for this qualification has increased from 97 to 102.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version 2. The last date for people to complete version 1 is 31 December 2007.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purpose of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.
