Revision of Dairy Farming qualification

National Certificate in Dairy Farming (Artificial Insemination) with strands in Site Technician, and Industry Technician [Ref: 0967]

The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.

Date new version published                        September 2006

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2007.

Reason for the revision

The qualification was revised because it was intended that both strands of the qualification should be at level 4.

Main changes resulting from the revision

Changes to structure and content

·      The elective rule for the Site Technician strand of the qualification has changed, and candidates are now required to complete an additional 6 credits at Level 4 or above for a total of 15 credits at Level 4 or above.

·      Total credits required for the qualification with the Site Technician strand have increased from 50 to 56.

Transition

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to award of version 3 of the qualification have until 30 December 2008 to complete that version.  The last date for award of version 3 is 30 December 2009.  The last date for entry to training programmes or courses for version 3 is 31 December 2006.

It is strongly recommended that people transfer to the new version of the qualification as soon as possible.

It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by this review, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition.  However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:
