Summary of review and consultation process
Four Civil Defence unit standards were reviewed and approved by the LGITO Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Advisory Group. The main reason for the review was to update the standards following the repeal of the Civil Defence Act 1983, which was replaced with the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002. These legislative changes created new industry terminology and requirements. The content of the standards was amended to reflect these changes. The new industry terminology has also been reflected in title changes.
The LGITO Civil Defence Emergency Management Advisory Group met to review the standards. The Civil Defence Emergency Management Advisory Group is made up of representatives from local, regional, rural and urban CDEM organisations, and a private training establishment working in the industry. Comment on the reviewed standards was sought from the industry.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Standard 7335 has been reclassified into the domain Civil Defence Operation.
· All four standards have had title changes to reflect current industry terminology.
· The level of standard 7332 has decreased from 3 to 2.
· The credit of standard 7332 has increased from 2 to 4.
· Special note references to legislation have been updated in all four standards.
· Range statements and special notes have been amended to reflect the changed content.
· Adjustments have been made to improve and clarify elements and performance criteria.
