Revision of Electricity Supply qualification
National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Power Technician) (Level 5) [Ref: 1260]
The Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new version published April 2007
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2009.
Reason for the revision
The ElectroTechnology Industry Training Organisation (ETITO) had undertaken a review of Core Electronics standards, and replaced standard 11579 with standard 22729. ESITO revised this qualification because it included standard 11579. However, standard 22729 was not deemed an appropriate replacement because it required advanced knowledge of the subject matter. In the Power Technician qualification, ESITO therefore replaced standard 11579 with standard 22727, which required intermediate knowledge and was within the ability of candidates undertaking this qualification.

· Title of standard 21230 updated.
Transition
Candidates currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification. The last date for assessment for version 1 of this qualification is 31 December 2008. All new candidates will be signed on to version 2 of this qualification.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.
