Revision of Poultry Production qualification

National Certificate in Poultry Production (Level 2) with strands in Egg Production, Poultry Hatchery, and Poultry Meat Production [Ref: 0886]

The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation has revised the qualification listed above.

Date new version published                        April 2007

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2007.

Reason for the revision

Unit 18017, Collect, grade, sanitise, and store eggs for hatching egg production had been identified as a barrier to completion for some candidates, as some poultry meat production farms do not have eggs.

Main changes resulting from the revision

Unit standard 18017 has been removed from the Poultry Meat Production strand.

Transition

Version 4 was issued in order to remove unit standard 18017 from the Poultry Meat Production strand.

Candidates who (due to the inclusion of unit standard 18017) have been unable to complete the Poultry Meat Production strand of version 3, or the Poultry Rearing strand of version 2, will need to transfer to version 4.

All other candidates currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of versions 1, 2, or 3 of this qualification may either complete that version or transfer to version 4.

All versions are recognised by the Agriculture Industry Training Organisation.

It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this revision, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition.  However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Agriculture Industry Training Organisation at the address below.
