The Seafood Industry Training Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published August 2007
The next qualification review is planned to take place during December 2012.
Summary of review and consultation process
These qualifications have been reviewed to ensure they meet the current needs of the industry, to recognise the knowledge and skills required to operate in the area of customary fishing and customary fishing management.
A series of meetings with the Seafood Māori advisory group, and a group of representative iwi, companies, and providers, were held and resulted in several changes to the National Certificate in Seafood Māori (Customary Fishing Management) (Level 4) [Ref: 1065] to better reflect the requirements.

Changes to structure and content
· Standard 20328 was replaced by standard 20911 in the compulsory section
· Group B has been removed, with Groups C and D being changed to Groups B and C respectively
· The minimum credits for Groups A, B and C were changed
· The credit range table was updated in keeping with all changes made.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to this version of the qualification. The last date for people to complete version 1 is 31 December 2008.
Appeals
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. Any person who feels they have been disadvantaged by these transition arrangements can contact the Seafood ITO who will consider appeals on a case-by-case basis.
