The Māori Qualifications Services of NZQA has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published August 2007
Planned review date December 2011
Summary of review and consultation process
These Tikanga unit standards were reviewed as part of NZQA Māori Qualifications Services review cycle.
There was limited usage of the standards from the Tikanga Concepts domain until 2005, when usage increased significantly. There has been no reported usage of the unit standards from the Tikanga Practices domain that have been reviewed in this cycle. Moderation reports have provided minimal feedback on these standards.
Amendments have been endorsed by the Whakaruruhau Tikanga at their review hui in October 2006 and February 2007.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Minor edits have been made where necessary.
· The title of unit standard 16160 has been changed.
· Special notes have been amended and range statements have been added to some of the standards.
· Unit standards 21438, 21439, and 21440 have been replaced by two standards, 23640, and 23641, which deal specifically with the tikanga of hura kōhatu and hahunga tūpāpaku.
· Credit value of 16161 has increased from 2 to 4 to better reflect the time required to meet the outcome.
Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2009.
