Summary of review and consultation
process
This
review was part of a planned review cycle.
Feedback was received from the secondary sector and from the moderation
and examination systems. National
consultation on the standards has resulted in the proposed changes.
Main changes resulting from the
review
In achievement standards AS90037,
AS90039, and AS90040, the words that communicate own design ideas in
response to a brief have been added to the introductory statements. This change was made to focus students
on the quality of their communication by making sure their work is connected to
a brief. That communicate own design ideas has been added to the titles
of all three achievement standards. Achievement criteria have been adjusted
to reflect this change.
Explanatory notes have been
included in achievement standards AS90037, AS90039, and AS90040 to clarify when
electronic technologies (digital media) may or may not be used as
evidence.
In achievement standards AS90037,
AS90039, and AS90040, students are now required (where it was previously just
recommended) to provide evidence of their own design ideas and within
the context of a given brief.
In achievement standard AS90037,
the wording design features has been replaced with design ideas in
the title. An explanatory note has
been added to this achievement standard to support the intent of the standard
that freehand
sketching could occur at any stage of a brief and requires the purposeful
communication of design ideas.
In achievement standard AS90039,
the word detailed has been added to describe working drawings in the
criteria for achievement with merit and achievement with excellence. In the explanatory notes, the term
detailed has been clarified.
Another explanatory note has been added to clarify that computer
generated drawings must show projection lines and use drawing conventions
specified in AS/NZS 1100SET Technical drawing set.
In achievement standard AS90040
the introductory statement has been rewritten to more clearly describe the
intent of the standard. An explanatory note has been added to clarify the
meaning of tonal change and effective tonal
change.
