Revision of Commercial Road Transport qualification

National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Ground Spreading) [Ref: 1018]

Tranzqual ITO has revised the above qualification.

Date new version published                                                             December 2007

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.

Reason for the revision

This qualification was revised in order to reinstate standard 6257, Operate a mounted front end loader unit for agricultural contracting.  This standard had been removed at the last review (May 2005) but proved to be useful to industry.  The opportunity was taken to update details of reviewed standards and to make content and structural changes consequential to the registration of standard 24089 and the planned expiry of standard 15164.

Main changes resulting from the revision

Changes to structure and content

·      Standard 15164 was removed from the compulsory section.

·      Standard 24089 was added to the compulsory section.

·      Standard 6257 was added to the elective section.

·      Standard 1734 was moved from the compulsory section to the elective section.

·      Standards 1734, 1737, 3462, 3465, 6257, and 17574 were updated to reflect changes resulting from review.

Transition

People currently working towards version 2 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer existing credits to version 3.

For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the following expiring standard are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for another standard - see table below.

While this exemption is valid for the purpose of completing this qualification, it should be noted that if a candidate does not already hold a Class 2 to 5 driver licence, or P or V licence endorsement, they will need to complete standard 24089 in order to satisfy current Land Transport NZ requirements.

It is not intended that anyone is disadvantaged by this revision, and the above arrangements have been designed for a smooth transition.  However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:
