Revision of Cookery
qualifications
National
Certificate in Hospitality (Introductory Cookery)
(Level 2) [Ref: 0552]
National Diploma in Hospitality (Basic
Cookery) (Level 3) [Ref: 0553]
The
Hospitality Standards Institute has revised the qualifications listed
above.
Date new versions published
December 2007
The next qualification review is planned to
take place during 2009.
Reason for the
revision
The qualifications were amended
to correct an anomaly in credit exemptions.
Main changes resulting from the revision of
both qualifications
A credit
exemption table was added to each qualification, allowing for exemptions from
standards in version 2 of each qualification.
Changes to structure and content
·
Transition arrangements simplified so that
all candidates are eligible for the same exemptions (1979 and 1978)
· Credit exemption table included for a standard replaced by an earlier standard (1300 and 9677)
· Titles of standards 14462 and 9677 updated.
Transition for both
qualifications
Version
2 of each qualification contained Unit 1979, Describe the employment relationship, and the
application of employment law to that relationship (Level 2; Credits 3), in version 3, this was
replaced by Unit 1978, Identify basic
employment rights and responsibilities, and sources of information and
assistance (Level 1; Credits 2).
For the
purposes of each qualification, people who have gained credit 1979 are exempt
from the requirement to gain credit for the 1978 - see table below.

transfer to version 4.
