The Hospitality Standards Institute has revised and reviewed the qualifications listed above.
Date new versions published December 2007
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2012.
Revision
National Certificate in Hospitality (Operations Supervision) (Level 4) with strands in Food and Beverage Service, Gaming, Accommodation, and Front Office [Ref: 0882]
National Diploma in Hospitality (Business Management) (Level 5) [Ref: 0883]
Reason for the revision
The qualifications have been revised to update standards changed in the Business Management domain and to make changes to the Gaming strand in the National Certificate in Hospitality (Operations Supervision) (Level 4) with strands [Ref: 0882], to reflect changes in industry requirements.
Main changes resulting from the revision
· Business management standards have been updated.
· Gaming strand has been split into a core and elective section.

Changes to structure and content:
· Credit total has changed from 76-110 to 73-107, depending on the strand.
· Details of reviewed standards have been updated.
· Standard 19521 has been removed from the core compulsory section.
· Standard 16616 has been replaced with standard 22397 in the core compulsory section.
· Gaming strand has been split into a core and elective section and standard 21500 has been removed.
· Standard 17497 has been replaced by standard 21335 in the accommodation strand.

Changes to structure and content:
· Elective A details of reviewed subfield and domains have been updated.
Transition
People currently working towards version 2 of these qualifications may either complete the requirements of that version or transfer their results to these versions of the qualifications. The last date for people to complete version 1 or 2 is 31 December 2010.

Summary of review and consultation process
The functions management sector has developed a set of new standards to reflect the knowledge and skills required of a person carrying out this role in the hospitality industry. As this is mainly a management role they have added a strand to the National Diploma to encompass their specific skill requirements.
Main changes resulting from the review
· An additional strand in Functions Management.
· The need was identified for a new qualification at Level 4 to provide a lower level entry point for the Functions Management sector - National Certificate in Hospitality (Functions Coordination (Level 4) [Ref: 1339].
