Date new version published February 2007
Planned review date December 2009
Summary of review and consultation process
The Seafood Industry Training Organisation registered assessors and industry raised issues that led to unit standard 19216 being reviewed. The unit standard required trainees to have a full understanding of the repair and maintenance for both land and sea-based aquaculture farms. This was a barrier to training and assessment because most companies did not operate both types of aquaculture farms. A working group was set up to review the unit standard. The unit standard was re-drafted into two separate standards and presented to the relevant industry sector for consultation. Final versions were endorsed by industry.
Main changes resulting from the review
· Unit standard 19216 has been replaced by two farm type specific unit standards 23646 and 23647 to separate the requirements for land and sea-based aquaculture.
