Revision of Security qualification
National Certificate in Security (Level 2) [Ref: 0176]
The ElectroTechnology Industry Training Organisation (ETITO) in conjunction with the Security Industry Training Advisory Board (SITAB) and industry representatives has revised the above qualification.
Date new version published February 2007
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2010.
Reason for the revision
This qualification was revised and issued as version 7 in order to extend the last date for candidates to meet the requirements of version 5 from 31 December 2007 to 31 December 2008.
As part of the revision, the opportunity was taken to update the reference details for the National Certificate in Security with strands in Court Security, Event Security, Mobile Patrol, Noise Control, Retail Security, Secure Transport, and Site Security [Ref: 0227], which had been reviewed and was re-registered in August 2006.
Transition
The last date to meet the requirements of version 5 of the qualification is 31 December 2008. Candidates may either complete the requirements of version 5 before 31 December 2008 or transfer to version 7 with the following exemptions, which also apply until 31 December 2008:

The structure and purpose of version 7 is the same as version 6. There is no requirement for candidates to transfer from version 6 to version 7. All new candidates will be enrolled in programmes leading to version 7 of the qualification.
It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by the above arrangements. However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:
