Revision of First Line Management qualification
National Certificate in First Line Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0649]
The National Qualifications Services (NQS) of NZQA has revised the qualification listed above.
Date new versions published February 2007
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2007.
Reason for the revision
· Review of standards in domain First Line Management (except 19021 and 19022).
· Reclassification of First Line Management standards (except 19021 and 19022).
· Review of standards in domain Interpersonal Skills.
The revision has been carried out to take account of the above reviews and reclassification of standards. The revision is an interim measure to ensure candidates are able to embark on the qualification and access standards in their new classifications, prior to the reviewed qualification being registered in 2007.
Main changes resulting from the revision
Changes to structure and content
· In Elective A, domain First Line Management is replaced by a list of all reviewed standards from that domain, or their replacement standards.
· In Elective B, the two new subfields, Business Operations and Development, and Business Environment have been added as choices from which candidates can choose standards.
· Unit standard 9682 has been removed from Elective B, as it has been designated expiring.
· The requirement for a minimum of 30 credits from Elective B has been removed. This allows all credits to be taken from standards formerly in domain First Line Management, if wished, as per the previous version of the qualification.
· Title, levels, and credits for reviewed standards in the domain Interpersonal Skills have been updated where appropriate.
Transition
People currently working towards version 1 of this qualification may choose to complete that version or transfer to the version 2.
· The last date for assessments to take place for replaced version 1 of the qualification is 31 December 2009.
· Specified credit exemptions to take account of reviewed standards and/or other changes are listed in the table below.

This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards.
