Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) has completed the reclassification, revision, and rollover of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                        February 2007

Planned review date                        December 2010

Reason for the revision, rollover, and rationale for the reclassification change

FITEC has been involved in the development of new qualification structures for the wood fibre manufacturing industries.  As part of the process industry advisory groups have been convened to review the structure of qualifications in wood panels manufacture.  The advisory groups have revised the content of unit standards to ensure that they are fit for the new qualification structures they are being put into.  This has resulted in a minor change to the credit of one unit standard in Laminated Veneer Lumber and Plywood Manufacturing.

The new qualifications are to be registered in 2007, so the advisory groups have recommended that the review date for the unit standards be moved from 2009 to 2010, to allow use of the standards within the new qualification structures for two years before the next review.

Main changes resulting from the revision

The revision has resulted in the following changes:

·               Unit standards have been moved to their new subfields.

·               Formats and wording have been updated to meet NZQA unit standard guidelines.

·               Credit value on unit standard 19721 has increased from 4 to 5.
