Summary of review and consultation process

The ATTTO carried out the review of the unit standard listed above following indications from industry that there was a need to undertake a major review of the National Certificate in Air Traffic Services. An expert panel was selected to determine the skills and knowledge required for the Air Traffic Services domain, and to discuss whether the existing unit standards would still be fit for purpose.

Drafts of new and reviewed unit standards were circulated, through the expert panel, to the wider industry for feedback. All feedback was considered and where appropriate, incorporated into the unit standards; the Civil Aviation Authority then endorsed these. The review was used to address issues of currency and accuracy, and has resulted in replacement unit standards being issued with level and credit values that better represent industry requirements.

Main changes resulting from the review

The review process has resulted in the following changes to the unit standards:

· Unit standard 15519 has been replaced with 23455.

· Unit standard 15542 has been replaced with 23456.

· Unit standard 15544 has been replaced with 23457 and 23476.

· Unit standard 15545 has been replaced with 23458.

· Unit standard 15548 has been replaced with 23459

· Unit standard 15549 has been replaced with 23460.

· Unit standard 15551 has been replaced with 23461.

· Unit standard 15552 has been replaced with 23462.

· Unit standard 15554 has been replaced with 23463.

· Unit standard 15555 has been replaced with 23464.

· Unit standard 15556 has been replaced with 23465.

· Unit standard 15557 has been replaced with 23466.

· The levels, credit values, titles, elements, performance criteria, and special notes of the replacement standards differ from the standards the values in the replaced standards.

· New unit standards 23467-23475 and 23477 have been developed.

Unit standards categorised as category C expire at the end of December 2012.
